Child Custody: An Overview

Ensuring that your children are taken care of is one of the most important things you’ll do. Child custody cases can be complicated, and it may be tough to reach an agreement. Having an attorney who can help is of the utmost importance. Wyble Law Firm, PLLC, has helped parents throughout Texas navigate a new normal. Let us help you when it matters most.

Understanding Your Rights As A Parent

There are two types of custody in Texas. In a joint managing conservatorship, both parents share the rights and responsibilities of a parent. It is important to note that one parent may be awarded the right to make certain decisions for the child, despite sharing custody. Sole managing conservatorship means that one parent has custody and thus takes on all duties for the child.

Regardless of what works best for you and your family, custody is something a parent must take seriously. A parent who has or shares custody of a child has the ability to make decisions regarding the child’s health care (medical and dental) and education. They also are responsible for getting information to the other parent when necessary. If you cannot reach a custody agreement, a judge will look at your case and determine what is in the best interest of the child.
